Liverpool to invest in youth development

Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli has made clear his intentions to redevelop and strengthen the club’s youth structure, The Mirror reports.

Comolli has granted Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish a £100m warchest which has been used over the last 12 months to strengthen their squad. The Liverpool director of football has now targetted the club’s youth structure and with promising talents such as Martin Kelly and Jack Robinson progressing to the first team, Comolli is looking further to the future. Last week, Comolli made a influential signing in bringing highly-rated 17-year-old US youth international Marc Pelosi to the club from California side De Anza Force.

Liverpool owner John W. Henry has made it clear that he is interested in improving the youth system and has praised the ‘stability, clarity and purpose’ installed by Comolli.
