Liverpool to wear poppies for Swansea clash

Liverpool will wear poppies embroidered into their shirts when they take on Swansea at Anfield this afternoon, liverpoolfc.tv reports.

With no Premier League games taking place next weekend, the Reds will wear the special shirts on Saturday to commemorate Remembrance weekend. The shirts will then be signed and donated to the Royal British Legion. Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has spoken of the importance that wearing the shirts brings and the honour that the players feel when wearing the poppies on their chest, as well as thanking the armed forces for the work they do across the world. Henderson said: ‘It’s important for Liverpool to pay their respects this weekend. It’s an honour to wear the poppy on our shirts, and afterwards, we’ll be signing them and donating them to the Royal British Legion.’
