Lukaku patient in chase for first-team spot

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has spoken of how happy he was to sign for Chelsea and is ready to progress slowly to get to the top, Sky Sports reports.

Lukaku signed for £18m from Belgian side Anderlecht this summer, but has not made many first team appearances so far. Chelsea were looking to send Lukaku on loan to Stoke after his signing, but rules about a player not being allowed to make two moves in the same transfer window stopped the move. The Belgian could be included in the squad to face Blackburn this weekend and has spoken of the first time he decided he wanted to play for Chelsea, which came on a school trip to Stamford Bridge last year. ‘To be there was like ‘wow’. I just said to my teacher I will play here next season. I knew it since I was 14 years old, I knew I would play for Chelsea. The playing style is good. Chelsea have always been an attacking team’, Lukaku said.
