Manchester City officials have warned their fans not to wear club colours in next week’s Champions League game against Napoli, The
City are concerned that the trip to Naples could be marred by violence like Napoli’s games in Europe in recent years. The club hierachy have pleaded with their fans not to advertise the scarves and shirts with City colours. Four Bayern Munich fans were slashed outside the Stadio San Paolo last month and last season, and three LIverpool fans required treatment for knife wounds before a Europa League tie.
A club statement said: ‘We would advise against wearing club colours away from the game, particularly when taking public transport’.
