Manchester City want to sign Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie in January to replace the outgoing Carlos Tevez, according to The
Van Persie has been in sensational form in 2011, scoring 35 goals in 36 club appearances during the calendar year so far, and is currently this season’s Premier League top scorer with 13.
With Tevez almost certain to move on after falling out with manager Roberto Mancini, City now want to bring in the Gunners’ Dutch striker as his replacement.
Van Persie’s current deal at the Emirates expires in the summer of 2013, and talks over a new contract have stalled, putting City on the alert.
He would follow in the footsteps of the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Kolo Toure, Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri, who have all moved from Arsenal to the Etihad in recent times.
