Man Utd keeping eye on Italian youngster

Manchester United are closely monitoring the progress of Atalanta’s teenage striker Manolo Gabbiadini and could make a bid for the youngster next summer, The Daily Mail reports.

The Red Devils are understood to be considering launching a £9m bid for the attacker who has scored 10 goals in 13 games for Italy Under 21s.

Sir Alex Ferguson could be looking for replacements for Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov next summer as the pair are expected to leave the club and the young forward is reported to be top of the United boss’s shopping list.

Ferguson faces competition from Italian giants Juventus and Milan in attracting Gabbiadini’s signature as both Serie A sides have expressed interest in the player.
