De Rossi’s future at the Stadio Olimpico is uncertain as he is out of contract at the end of the season. The Italian international recently admitted that when he does leave Roma, his priority is to move away from Italy. City have been regularly linked with an offer for the 28 year old and Mancini is keeping a regular eye on the situation.
Mancini could understand if De Rossi would stay in Rome, but is hoping he can make the move: ‘A Roman is very attached to his origins and his way of life. As a result, I wouldn’t be surprised if he renewed his contract. If De Rossi is one day available on the market, then Manchester City will be ready’.
