Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini believes Mario Balotelli’s red card against Liverpool was the fault of the home team’s players, according to Sky
Balotelli received a second yellow card after a challenge on Martin Skrtel just 18 minutes after coming on as a substitute as the two sides played out a 1-1 draw at Anfield on Sunday.
Now, Mancini has accused the Liverpool players of influencing referee Martin Atkinson into the decision, which he says was the wrong one.
“It was not the correct decision,” said the City boss. “Mario moved his arm but I got the impression the referee thought it was a free-kick but not a card.
“After all the Liverpool players went to him complaining, he gave him a second yellow card,” he concluded.
