Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has played down expectation that his side will be good enough to win the Champions League this season, BBC
Despite some blistering performances in the league, City have not performed to their best in the Champions League and a 2-1 win away in Naples midweek means they have to beat Bayern Munich and hope Napoli draw with Villarreal to progress to the last 16.
Mancini had commented previously that he believed his City side were on a par with the best teams in Europe, but has backtracked slightly on that statement. The Italian believes that his side can become a great team, but do not have the Champions League experience to perform well this season.
The City boss said: ‘We should be realistic. I do not think we have a team to win the Champions League this season. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan all have more experience than us. We hope we can stay in the Champions League’.
