Roberto Mancini praised Micah Richards and Mario Balotelli following their team ending Newcastle United’s unbeaten start to the season, BBC
This came at the end of a fortnight that saw the full-back left out of the England squad for the friendlies against Spain and Sweden – an omission that confused many pundits.
However, Mancini didn’t hide his admiration for the defender after he scored one and made the second penalty, in the 3-1 victory: “I love Micah Richards as a guy and a player, I’d like it if he plays always like he did today.”
The manager also reserved special mention for his Italian striker: “The penalty from Mario was fabulous, It is impossible for him to miss one penalty – I don’t know why,” he continued. “I’m just helping him not to waste his talent and to make sure he becomes the player he can become.”
