Oxlade-Chamberlain wants more time to impress

Arsenal youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has asked fans to give him time to find his feet and claimed that he is a work in progress, arsenal.com reports.

The forward was signed for £12m from Southampton in the summer and follows Theo Walcott down the same road to the Emirates Stadium. Oxlade-Chamberlain’s transfer fee was criticised by some of the Gunners’ fans, but his performances have shown signs of immediate improvement upon his arrival in North London.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has admitted that there is plenty of work to turn his game into something special, but believes he is good enough to improve and get better day by day.

The 18 year old said: ‘It’s down to me at the end of the day, I’ve got to put pressure on the boss to select me. I can only do that by training well and, when I do get my chance, impress him. The boss has said it’s up to me, he’s going to work with me the same way I have to with him. It’s a work in progress and I don’t think there’s any need to rush into things.’
