Scott Parker is not taking his England place at Euro 2012 for granted, despite his man of the match performance in Saturday’s friendly against Spain, according to the Daily
Speaking after the match, he said: “There is no complacency. I realise how tough it will be and I need to maintain my form.” He also offered some perspective on the result against the reigning World and European Champions, adding: “There are massive improvements we can make. Defensively, we were brilliant; attacking-wise, we could be a lot better, and we could work on that.”
Giving his thoughts on England’s chances at Euro 2012, he said, “We will always be confident going into a tournament, but we need to be realistic. We will try to build quietly and try to maintain our form.”
Parker won his tenth cap for England against Spain, and has also impressed for Tottenham, with the most tackles per 90 minutes so far this Premier League season.
