Oldham Athletic manager Paul Dickov has tipped on-loan Manchester City star Luca Scapuzzi to play a starring role for his side.
The Italian winger flourished in the Latics’ 3-1 victory over Crewe in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy last night as he scored his first goal for the side and also laid on an assist for evergreen striker Shefki Kuqi.
It represents a vast improvement in fortunes for Scapuzzi who saw his Oldham debut prematurely curtailed in Saturday’s 2-0 home loss to Bury when he was sacrificed in the 11th minute following goalkeeper Alex Cisak’s sending off.
The result sees the Latics progress to the Northern Area Semi-Finals of the competition and Dickov told the club’s official website he hopes it’s the start of great things to come from his talented loanee: “Luca
“You don’t start out at AC Milan and then sign for Manchester City without being a very good footballer. He is a class player and once the other lads get used to him we will see exactly how good he could be for the club.”
