Real Madrid target Man Utd defender Vidic

Spanish giants Real Madrid are planning a move for Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic, The People reports.

Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has Vidic at the top of his shopping list and is prepared to offer £10m for the 30 year old United defender. Vidic is not expected to leave United anytime soon, but Madrid’s pulling power could be felt by the Serbian. Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to keep Vidic, who is one of the best defenders in the world, and will try and stop Madrid taking his player away. Madrid have taken two of Fergie’s stars away in the past with David Beckham in 2003 and Cristiano Ronaldo’s world record £80m move in 2009. Ferguson is still keen to listen to offers for Rio Ferdinand, who is supposedly a target for Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp. Ferdinand has been criticised in the past few weeks and with the emergence of young talents such as Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, Ferdinand’s chances at United may be drawing to a close.
