Redknapp blasts FIFA over poppy reluctance

Harry Redknapp has blasted FIFA for their refusal to allow embroidered poppies on their shirts for the upcoming friendlies.

FIFA has now relented to an extent and allowed poppies on England’s the black armbands, but Redknapp has described the whole saga as ‘ridiculous’.

“I suppose letting players wear them on armbands is something – but in a way it makes the whole situation even more ridiculous,” he told The Sun.

“If you can wear poppies on armbands, why not on the chest? It just sounds like Fifa is being picky to me now. And it’s frightening when you have people like that running the game.”
