Reina hurt by lack of Liverpool Champions League action

Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Reina has told the Daily Mail that not being involved in the Champions League hurts, and that watching it on the television brings him little comfort. It’s now Anfield’s second successive season without hosting Europe’s leading club competition.

Last year Liverpool were in the Europa League, but are without any form of European competition at all this year, and Reina says that it hurts watching rivals play on the television when his side are not involved. “I would like to watch a Champions League game on Tuesday at 12 midnight with Liverpool having played just before but unfortunately at the moment it is any English or Spanish team at 7.45pm.”

However The Reds have started this season far stronger than in recent years, with the Fenway Sports group providing the much needed investment for Kenny Dalglish’s men to mount a serious top 4 challenge.
