Shrewsbury loan Everton teenager James Wallace

League Two promotion hopefuls Shrewsbury have completed the signing of promising Everton youngster James Wallace on a one-month loan deal.

The 19-year-old has experience in the division after a loan spell with Stockport County last season and has arrived in Shropshire with the hope of first-team football after finding his opportunities limited at Goodison Park.

Wallace made his sole Toffees appearance in a 1-1 draw with Sigma Olomouc in August 2009 and was a regular on the substitutes bench that season due to number of injuries to key personnel.

Salop manager Graham Turner was delighted to get Wallace on board when he spoke to BBC Radio Shropshire: “He’s a player we’ve kept an eye on. We tried to take him before. But I know he’s highly rated at Everton and David Moyes wanted him in the first team.

“He then went to Colombia with England in the summer, missed the start of the season, then had a couple of injuries, so Everton have decided it’s a good chance for him to get match practice.”
