Tottenham in poll position for Beckham move

David Beckham would rather join Spurs than Paris Saint Germain when his La Galaxy contract expires at the end of November, according to The Mirror.

Beckham has a multi-million Euro offer from PSG, but his desire to be part of the British 2012 Olympic team may hand Spurs the advantage in the battle for his signature something that would please Harry Redknapp: “David’s a fantastic player and a great influence in and around the club. He’s someone that I have always admired and is a great role model,” Redknapp has said.

Beckham has interest from eight Premier League clubs but Spurs would be his preferred choice and his advisor’s have ruled out a switch to an uncompetitive club again giving Tottenham the upper hand.

A potential problem with a Tottenham deal would be the competition for places in the Spurs midfield. Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp added: “I would take him, for sure but my dilemma is being able to guarantee him first-team football. I have an abundance of talent in midfield so it’s difficult to work out how and when I can play him.”
