Tottenham join Arsenal in battle for 40m rated Brazil striker

Spurs and Arsenal are embroiled in a battle for the signature of Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao, according to the Daily Mail.

Damiao, 22, currently plays his football for Internacional of Brazil, and currently has 17 goals in 23 games so far this season. However, he has been frequently linked with a move away, and Spurs had a £14 million bid rejected in the summer.

Since then, Shakhtar Donetsk, Barcelona and AC Milan have all expressed an interest, and Damiao’s spokeman said “There is an attractive offer from Tottenham, one from Arsenal, and also some Spanish clubs who are monitoring the situation.”

Reports suggest the Brazil international striker’s price will have inflated since the summer, and it may take as much as £40 million to prise him away from Internacional.
