Welbeck backs Cleverley to become world-class

Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck believes that his teammate Tom Cleverley has the ability to become a world-class player, The Daily Mail reports.

Cleverley and Welbeck spent last season on loan at Wigan and Sunderland respectively and have honed their skills upon their return to Old Trafford. Both players have had first-team opportunities so far this season and despite Cleverley’s injury setbacks, the 22 year old has still made a lasting impression on fans across the country.

Cleverley’s injury has ruled him out of the upcoming England games against Spain and Sweden, but Welbeck has earned a call up and believes that he will be joined regularly by Cleverley in the years to come as well as the midfielder becoming one of the best in the world.

Welbeck said: ‘I think he can become a world-class player. Football is such a simple game, it’s how hard you make it for yourself. Tom keeps it so simple and it is hard to do that when you’re in centre midfield, but Tom does that. He’s just going to carry on improving. You can see that every single day in training. He’s a really food player’.
