Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has urged his team and supporters not to make the Carling Cup quarter-final tie with Manchester City all about Samir Nasri, The Metro reports.
Nasri left the Emirates Stadium this summer to join the league leaders for £24m and his move was somewhat acrimonious, evoking reaction from supporters and players. Midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong criticised Nasri for moving to City for money and could face his former teammate when City travel to North London on Tuesday night. Wenger has urged his squad to focus on the job in hand and maintain their ten game unbeaten run.
Arsenal will make changes and Wenger wants the fans to support Arsenal first, before focusing attention on former players. ‘You want to respect the players who have played for us, that is what we expect. But it is always important to support our team on Tuesday night, than to be negative to the players of Manchester City. What is important is we are united to win the game’, the long-standing Gunners boss said.
