Arsene Wenger has maintained that he is unlikely to sign Bolton defender Gary Cahill and has called the Trotters ‘greedy’, The
Cahill has been tracked for a long time by the Gunners and they made a bid to bring the 25 year old to the Emirates Stadium this summer. Bolton rejected an offer that they claimed was derogatory to them as a football club and the interest died quickly. Wenger signed German international Per Mertesacker instead of the England international and admits that while Cahill is good enough for the Champions League, he is out of the mind of the Arsenal manager.
‘Cahill is good enough to play Champions League, but he is not someone I would be interested in. I have got five central defenders. We were in the market in the summer, but at that time, they (Bolton) were greedy’, Wenger said.
