Adam remains confident of penalty duties

Following his crucial penalty miss in Liverpool’s 0-0 draw against Wigan Athletic on Wednesday night, Charlie Adam has vowed that his confidence remains high and he has no qualms about taking the team’s next penalty kick. Ali Al-Habsi’s save from Adam’s spot kick means that Liverpool have failed to convert 4 of their last 5 penalties.

Adam told the Daily Mail: “I never thought I made a good connection with the penalty and the keeper made a good save but I’m disappointed I didn’t score. I scored the last one I took and was confident but I missed it. But if the opportunity comes around again I will be there to try to take another one.”

Adam now joins Andy Carroll, Luis Suarez and Dirk Kuyt on the list of Liverpool players to have missed from the spot this season, and it is fast becoming somewhat of an Achilles heel for The Reds.
