Daniel Agger has hailed the defensive partnership he has established with Martin Skrtel at the heart of the Liverpool defence, The
The Reds boast the best defence in the Premier League having conceded just 13 goals in 16 matches so far. Agger and Skrtel have been paired together since Jamie Carragher went down with a calf injury in late October. Since Carragher’s return, he has settled for a bench role due to the form of the two centre halves. The Danish defender has praised his Slovakian teammate, who scored the second for Liverpool against Aston Villa in a 2-0 win on Sunday.
Agger said: ‘We enjoy playing alongside each other. I think Martin and I understand each other well and we complement each other well. We feel good together and it is important that, as a central defender, you feel that way. It was a great header from Martin and he’s doing really well’.
The Liverpool defender has not just reserved praise for Skrtel. Agger believes the whole team have defended superbly and is happy with the competition at the club. Liverpool take their defensive record to the DW Stadium on Wednesday and will look for another clean sheet and three points.
