Arsenal eye Milan left-back to cover injury crisis

AC Milan defender Taye Taiwo has emerged as a potential solution to Arsenal’s left-back crisis, Metro reports.

The Gunners have seen both Andre Santos and Kieran Gibbs go down with injuries that will rule them out until the New Year. Defender Thomas Vermaelen is deputising at left back for the time being, but Wenger could be forced to make a move for a replacement in the January transfer window. Taiwo was signed by Milan from Marseille in the summer, but has only made six appearances for the Italian champions this season. If his situation at Milan does not improve, Taiwo could become a January target for the Gunners.

Taiwo said: ‘I am suffering every day because I don’t to play football. I joined this club in order to play, but I have made only six appearances so far. I don’t understand how things work in Italy. Sometimes, I even have to watch from the stands, but I really need to play in order to show what I can do’.

The 26 year old Nigerian has also indicated that Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri does not have faith in him. Taiwo is being kept out of the side by Luca Antonini and the Gunners could make a short term loan move for the highly rated defender.
