Arsenal have moved their Boxing Day fixture with Wolves at the Emirates Stadium to the 27th December, ESPN
The Gunners have taken the move following the proposed industrial action on London’s transport network on Boxing Day. London Underground workers are striking over their Boxing Day pay and have threatened other fixtures in the capital, including Chelsea’s West London derby with Fulham. The Blues are going ahead with their game, but Arsenal have delayed the fixture by 24 hours. Arsenal have apologised if this causes inconvenience with their supporters and had to make the call on ‘a duty of care’.
A club statement read: ‘As a result of the proposed industrial action on London Underground on Monday, December 26th, our home Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, originally planned for Boxing Day, has been postponed. Arsenal vs Wolverhampton Wanderers will now take place 24 hours later on Tuesday, December 27th, kick-off 3pm at Emirates Stadium’.
The statement continued: ‘We apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused supporters, but we feel that the right decision has been made based on a duty of care. All tickets purchased for this match are still valid for Tuesday, December 27th’.
