Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov is a shock loan target for Fulham boss Martin Jol, according to The
Berbatov has been linked with a move away from the club ever since he did not make the squad for the Champions League final against Barcelona last season. A move in the summer did not happen for the Bulgarian and now it seems that a January move is on the cards. Berbatov has made only one Premier League start so far this season and is the fourth choice striker at Old Trafford behind Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck.
The 30 year old has become a target for Fulham, who will be looking to take Berbatov on loan. Jol worked with Berbatov whilst both were at Spurs and signed him for Tottenham in 2006 from Bayer Leverkusen. Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala and French club Paris Saint Germain had emerged as favourites, but the opportunity to stay in the Premier League and play regular football could excite Berbatov into a move. Fulham are keen to clear out some of their strikers and Jol is looking to move on Bobby Zamora, who is unsettled with the West Londoners.
Andy Johnson could also make a switch away from Craven Cottage, leaving an empty hole for Berbatov to fill. Many Fulham fans would be delighted with the signing of the former Bulgarian international, who is unsettled with the Premier League champions and has asked for first-team football or a move away.
