Carrick not put off by Man Utd critics

Michael Carrick has called for the critics to keep calling Manchester United, because they can cope with the pressure easily, manutd.com reports.

Carrick filled in at centre back for United in their Boxing Day thrashing of Wigan and they picked up their fourth win in a row following their Champions League exit against Basel. United have scored 16 goals in their last four games and are coming into form, drawing level on points with Manchester City at the top of the league. Critics were out in force when United were thrashed 6-1 by City at Old Trafford in October, but Carrick insists that these comments do not affect the squad.

The United midfielder said: ‘Keep criticising, we don’t mind. Since I’ve been here, we’ve had it at some stage every year and more or less, we’ve had good seasons. We’ll keep doing what we’re doing. We know the potential here and how well we’re playing of late and we’ll just keep doing the things we know best and hopefully that’ll be enough.’<7i>

Carrick has performed well in recent weeks and has been tipped with a spot in the England squad. The midfielder is focused on his club performance at the moment and is ready to play in any position for United. Carrick is expected to be back in central midfield for United’s New Year’s Eve fixture with Blackburn at Old Trafford.
