Chelsea are now front runners in the race for Gary Cahill’s signature according to the Daily Mail. The West London outfit are set to sign the England central defender when the transfer window opens again in January.
Cahill’s contract expires in the summer, so January represents Bolton’s last chance to demand a fee for their prized asset before he leaves the club for free. Andre Villas-Boas is reportedly looking for a central defensive partner for John Terry, and in the long-term a replacement for his captain.
The Mirror reports that Chelsea will be spending in the region of £7million for the former Aston Villa player’s services, with Tottenham Hotspur also interested.
