Chelsea match with Fulham to go ahead despite strike

Chelsea have confirmed their Boxing Day fixture with West London rivals Fulham will go ahead, The Independent reports.

There is a high possibility of London Underground strikers taking industrial action over their Boxing Day pay. The action may threaten Premier League games, but Chelsea are definitely going ahead with the fixture. Legal action by the London Underground has taken place over the strike called by the Aslef union.

The Blues announced before the beginning of the legal action that their game would go ahead regardless. Chelsea and Fulham will kick off as planned at 1pm. Andre Villas-Boas’ side are desperately trying to get back in to the title race and face a busy festive period, beginning with their fixture against Tottenham tonight.

A club statement said: ‘Following careful consideration, Chelsea Football Club’s match against Fulham will take place as planned at 1pm on 26th December. Due to the increased difficulty in getting to Stamford Bridge because of the tube strike, we wanted to give fans as much notice as possible that the game will go ahead as scheduled’.
