The weapon was found at the club’s training ground in Cobham and the players were given the opportunity to step forward after being warned over the dangers of knife crime.
However, the owner was not found, and club officials later decided to take no further action on the matter, despite staff wanting to have the police involved.
Chelsea claim that the knife belongs to a contractor who had been working in the dressing room during the players’ time off and will return it to him as soon as possible.
When describing the blade, a source at the Chelsea academy commented: “The knife looked like something out of a Rambo film.”
