Coates excited about first Liverpool home start

Uruguayan defender Sebastian Coates has revealed that he is excited about running out at Anfield for the very first time, reports.

Coates joined the Reds from Uruguayan side Nacional in the summer and has made four first team appearances already this season. Unfortunately, these have all come away from home and Coates is desperate for a chance to show his stuff at Anfield. The 21 year old has experienced the atmosphere on the bench or in the stands, but believes that it will be magnificent once he steps on to the turf.

The defender said: ‘You can see the passion there is in the crowd. You can see it sitting on the bench, but it would be much nice to see it playing on the field. It hasn’t really come as a surprise to me, because I had already heard of the passion that Liverpool fans had.’

Coates believes it may be up to a year before he fully develops into the flow of the English game, but insists he is coming on leaps and bounds and settling well. The 21 year old knows that he has to impress the Reds fans and is hopeful he can progress from the level he is now into a world-class defender for Liverpool and Uruguay.
