Following Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City on Monday night, Chelsea and England left back Ashley Cole allegedly taunted the opposition staff and players repeatedly shouting: “Thursday night, Channel Five” in reference to the early exit from the Champions League and their participation in the Europa League.
The Telegraph reports that whilst manager Roberto Mancini and his players remonstrated with the referee in the tunnel, Cole made the jibes as well as shouting: “Have some of that.” It was a chant that the Chelsea supporters had been singing at their Manchester City counterparts during the match as The Blues are through to the knockout phases of the competition.
Manchester City felt referee Mark Clattenburg could have awarded them a penalty as well as being aggrieved that Gael Clichy was sent off.
