Dalglish backs Carroll to perform

Kenny Dalglish has insisted that Andy Carroll is ready to take his chance in the first team whenever an opportunity arises, liverpoolfc.tv reports.

The Reds take on Blackburn at Anfield in the first of four games in eleven days over the festive period. Carroll has been on the bench for the last three matches and has yet to show the form worthy of his £35m price tag from Newcastle back in January. The England international has suffered from injuries leading up to this season and Dalglish is hopeful Carroll can have a clean break away from injury worries to fire him back into form.

Dalglish said: ‘Training well never does anybody any harm whatsoever and if you are going to get an opportunity, then the better you train, the more capable you are of taking that opportunity. As we have said before, everybody that is in the group of players have trained fantastically well and if they have been given an opportunity, they have always taken it’.

Liverpool signed seven new players in the summer and Dalglish believes the signings will gel quickly to fire the Reds into Champions League contention. Carroll has been included in the new group and Dalglish believes that his progress and potential is monumental.
