Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish says the club do not need to sign a new player in January to replace the injured Lucas Leiva, according to The
Lucas was recently ruled out of the rest of the current campaign when he sustained cruciate ligament damage against Chelsea in the League Cup.
Steven Gerrard is also currently on the sidelines, but Dalglish is backing his squad of players to come through their absences, and in particular showed support for Jay Spearing.
“We don’t need to make a decision about January at the beginning of December,” said the Reds boss. “We have a really strong squad and have to cater for suspensions, injuries, loss of form, fatigue, whatever.
“We’ve got adequate replacements. We will have a look and make a decision. Wee Jay has done really well since I came in. We trust in him and we believe in all of them.”
