Dalglish praise for Maxi

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has praised Maxi Rodriguez’s performance after the striker scored in the 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers, liverpoolfc.tv reports.

Maxi made his 50th Premier League appearances for the Reds and has been a regular performer for Dalglish since the Scot took over at Anfield. The Argentinian had been a bit-part player since his 2010 move from Atletico Madrid, but has moulded into one of the most reliable players under Dalglish. Liverpool should have won the game against Rovers on Boxing Day, but had Maxi to thank for a backpost header that got them the point.

Dalglish said: ‘Maxi is a very intelligent footballer. He knows how to play and he loves to play. He’s not able to play in every game and we have to manage him as best we can. But when he does play, he doesn’t give you many bad performances. He’s a real credit to himself and his profession’.

The Argentinian is expected to start against Newcastle at Anfield on Friday night. Liverpool striker Andy Carroll could also be in for a start against his former side after Luis Suarez’s suspension. The Reds are desperate for three points after picking up their sixth home draw this season on Boxing Day. Dalglish has praised the work of his players and encouraged them to keep playing well.
