David Silva warns over Man Utd title threat

David Silva still maintains that Manchester United will be a big threat for Manchester City’s Premier League ambitions, The Daily Mail reports.

Silva was instrumental in City’s 6-1 win over United at Old Trafford earlier in the season and is looking for the same when the two sides meet in the FA Cup in January. The Spaniard has helped City to top of the table at Christmas, but they are only two points ahead of United in the Premier League. United have not been playing to the best of their ability, but are hot on City’s heels and think they can catch them. Silva is cautious of the Premier League champions, but has encouraged the title chase between the two Manchester sides.

The City midfielder said: ‘We are aware that Manchester United are going to be pushing us all the way, but we have to focus on ourselves. You might say United have been disappointing, but they are right there on our heels and you can’t knock that. We know they are going to be right behind us, so we have to make sure there are no slip-ups and try to win every game’.

United face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Wednesday keen to follow up their 2-0 win over QPR on Sunday. Wayne Rooney is back in the goals after scoring three in two and is expected to start against the Cottagers.
