Defoe to make Chelsea game but Bale and Lennon set to miss out

Tottenham have a host of injury concerns ahead of their crunch game with Chelsea on Thursday evening.

Gareth Bale missed yesterday’s 1-0 win over Sunderland after spraining an ankle in training, and though he has yet to be ruled out, faces a fight to be fit. Fellow winger Aaron Lennon, however, is certain to miss the game between third and fourth in the Premier League table, as he was forced off in the first half of yesterday’s game with a torn hamstring.

“Lennon has got no chance for Thursday,” Harry Redknapp said after the game. “It’ll be weeks if it’s a tear.” The manager was, however, more hopeful for Defoe, who missed the game with a hamstring injury. “There’s every chance Defoe will be fit. He’s only got a grade one tear and he’s desperate to play.”
