Ferguson has injury worries ahead of Aston Villa clash

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has ruled out three players through injury for the weekend’s journey down to Aston Villa, manutd.com reports.

Striker Dimitar Berbatov was withdrawn at half-time with an ankle problem and the Da Silva twins, Rafael and Fabio, were also withdrawn with problems. All three miss the teamtime trip to Villa Park, but could be back sooner rather than later. Ferguson does not think that Berbatov’s is too serious and he should be fine.

Ferguson said: ‘Berbatov’s injury isn’t serious. He got injured the week before and it’s a recurrence of it. We’ve been getting a few injuries, but it happens. At the moment, we’re going through a spell where we’re getting a few a week, but we have to get on with it’.

The United boss has a choice between Chris Smalling or Phil Jones for the right back slot and should make wholesale changes from the Carling Cup defeat in midweek. Long term absentees still include midfielders Tom Cleverley and Anderson, as well as striker Michael Owen, but Ferguson is confident that his side will play well and get a much-needed win.
