Frimpong looks to Olympiakos match to prove himself

Emmanuel Frimpong is determined to make the most of his chance against Olympiakos in the Champions League tonight, The Daily Mail reports.

The Gunners have already secured qualification to the knockout phases and have sent a mixed squad of fringe players and youth teamers to Athens. Frimpong is included in that 18 and started the season impressively in Arsene Wenger’s side. A serious knee injury derailed his progress, but he is battled back well and is determined to stake his place in the squad.

Wenger called the 19 year old a ‘warrior’ and someone ‘you can go to war with’. Frimpong is just aiming to force his way into the starting line-up on a regular basis, amid rumours of a loan move to a host of Premier League sides including Wolves.

Frimpong said: ‘I knew I would come back to playing football, but felt I was never going to get my chance at Arsenal again. When I had my chance, everything was going well. I thought that when I came back, we would have all the other players fit again. But in football, you cannot predict anything and I have just carried on from where I left off and have that chance again. Now I have to keep playing well to force the issue of playing in the team’.
