Fulham manager Martin Jol says he would be surprised if Liverpool striker Luis Suarez was found guilty of using racially abusive language, according to The Sun.
Suarez is alleged to have used a racial slur against Manchester United defender Patrice Evra in October and is awaiting the outcome of an FA enquiry.
However Jol, who worked with the Uruguayan forward when the pair were together at Ajax, finds it hard to believe that his former player would do such things.
“If it is true, I am surprised,” said Jol. “At Ajax we had players from all over the world. He was my captain and his job was to make them feel comfortable.
“He was a real leader. A real leader would never do things like that,” he concluded.
