Fulham striker Ruiz admits he wanted Tottenham move

Bryan Ruiz has stunned Fulham with the revelation that he would have preferred a summer move to Tottenham rather than the Cottagers, the Daily Star reports.

Ruiz signed for Fulham from FC Twente for a £10.6 million fee on transfer deadline day in August. Speaking to Dutch magazine Voetball International, however, he said, “I didn’t want to go to Fulham at all. I was happy with Tottenham’s previous interest in me. They are a dream club, and one you join without hesitation, but they did not become a concrete possibility for me in the end.”

The embarrassing report has since led to Fulham releasing a statement on their website in which the Costa Rican striker refutes his previous comments. Ruiz states, “I wish to make it known to the club’s supporters that as soon as Fulham’s interest was apparent to me in the summer, I was only ever intent on joining FFC.”
