Gomes admits he is looking for first-team football

Heurelho Gomes is heading for a January Tottenham exit, according to The People, in a quest to find regular first team football.

Gomes, 30, has seen his opportunities limited this season by the summer arrival of veteran keeper Brad Friedel, and has made just two appearances in the Europa League – a competition that Spurs look likely to drop out of bar an unlikely set of results this Thursday.

“I’m frustrated now, I thought I would remain as number one this season,” Gomes explained. “I need to think about a new club because I want to play for Brazil again – to do that I need regular games at Tottenham but that is not possible.

“I don’t know what will happen to me next but I know that I am a very good goalkeeper and can play for the best clubs in the world. I would be happy to go back to Brazil – but I would love to stay in the Premier League.”
