Hamsik not scared of Chelsea tie

Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik insists that his side do not fear Chelsea ahead of their last 16 Champions League fixture, talkSPORT reports.

Hamsik helped inspire Napoli through the group stages of the competition, knocking out Premier League leaders Manchester City in the process. Napoli have a raft of top quality attacking talent, including Edinson Cavani, and Chelsea are keen to sign both Hamsik and Cavani in January. The Slovakian has been linked with the Blues for most of the year, but chose to stay with Napoli this summer and has reaped the rewards.

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has a difficult schedule in front of him with a host of Premier League fixtures before the Champions League tie against Napoli. Hamsik has praised Chelsea and made them favourites, but insisted that his side will have no fear when they face the Premier League side.

‘The most important thing is that we were not paired with Barcelona or Real Madrid. Saying that, we are up against a very strong team. Chelsea are a great club who regularly play in the Champions League. We’re in December presently and the first game won’t be played until February. The only certainty is that Chelsea will be favourites against us, but we’ll give it a go’.
