Hartlepool sack head coach Mick Wadsworth after slump in form

League One side Hartlepool have parted company with head coach Mick Wadsworth.

After initially looking like promotion candidates the Pools have slipped to 13th in the division, five points off the play-off places.

Their descent down the table has been helped in no small part by the club’s woeful home form that has seen them lose their last seven games at Victoria Park with the latest defeat coming against an out-of-sorts Preston last Tuesday.

A statement on the club’s official website reads: “We would like to wish Mick all the very best for his future career and thank him for his efforts since joining the Club in July 2010.

“His contribution and wealth of experience during that time has been greatly appreciated by the Chairman, club owners and everyone associated with the club.”

First-team coach Micky Barron will now take temporary charge of the club as the hunt for Wadsworth’s successor begins.
