Former Tottenham player and manager Glenn Hoddle believes that Spurs can challenge for the Premier League title this season.
Hoddle played for Spurs for 12 years from 1975-1987 and was manager from 2001-2003. The former England manager believes that the quality Harry Redknapp has brought into the side will stand Spurs in good stead throughout the season. Hoddle has also praised the depth that Spurs have and feels that they can compete with anyone on a squad level.
The Spurs legend said: ‘I really think they can. I’ve been saying for the last two seasons that Spurs have as strong a squad as anyone except now Manchester City. The fact they kept Modric, built on the side they had and now have the likes of Defoe who can come off the bench and make an impact, that’s a wonderful asset to have’.
Hoddle also hoped that Redknapp would be able to get his central defensive partnership of Ledley King and Michael Dawson back into the side and praised the ability of youngsters Kyle Walker and Gareth Bale. The 54 year old believes that there are six sides in with a chance of winning the title.
