Hutchinson earns new Chelsea deal a year after retiring

Chelsea defender Sam Hutchinson has signed a new contract with the club twelve months after being forced to retire through injury, according to The Daily Mail.

Hutchinson’s time in the game looked to be at an end in August 2010 after he sustained a serious injury to his right knee.

However, after featuring in a reserve game against Aston Villa recently, the 22-year-old has signed an 18-month contract with Andre Villas-Boas’ side.

“It is great news I have signed a contract,” said Hutchinson, who made his first team debut against Everton in May 2007. “It is great to be back and I am looking forward to the future.

“I take it week by week and it is a slow process,” he continued. “I am still not out of rehabilitation but I am playing 90 minute games and feeling really fit.”
