Jose Enrique backs Liverpool for Champions League qualification

Jose Enrique believes that Liverpool are capable of sealing Champions League qualification this season, The Independent reports.

The Reds could move level with Chelsea in fourth place if they beat Newcastle at Anfield tonight. Enrique made the move from Newcastle to Liverpool this summer and has starred in the Reds defence. Liverpool’s season has been stop-start and they have drawn six games at home so far this season. Enrique has played his part in one of the best defences in the league, but the Liverpool forwards have failed to find the net and have only scored 21 times.

Enrique has spoken fondly of his time so far at Liverpool and is happy with the way things are going. The Spanish defender should receive a warm reception from the Newcastle fans at Anfield and is looking for a win to boost the ambition of the squad, which is to reach the Champions League.

The 25 year old said: ‘I think we can do better, I think we can be in the Champions League positions. But the league is so hard because Manchester City and Manchester United are better than us. I think in the summer, we started to sign players again and spend a lot of money and I think this club in the future will become one of the best again’.
