Kuyt frustrated after Liverpool defeat at Fulham

Dirk Kuyt admitted the Liverpool players were frustrated at the 1-0 loss to Fulham, but believes they can still reach the top four, liverpoolfc.tv reports.

The Reds were dominant in the second half against the West Londoners, but were beaten by a late strike from Clint Dempsey. Liverpool also lost Jay Spearing to a contentious red card and it leaves the Reds five points away from the Champions League places. The Dutchman is confident they will still be in the mix come the end of the season.

Kuyt said: ‘It’s a huge disappointment, but we need to keep going, look at ourselves and try to improve. I thought we were unlucky, because we had the chances to score. We did okay in the first half, but the way we came out in the second half was much better. It’s a huge disappointment not to get three points’.

The Reds now have to re-focus and get their heads right for the visit of QPR next Saturday. So far against the two other newly promoted sides, Swansea and Norwich, Liverpool have been held to draws at Anfield.
