Lescott remains optimistic over City season

When Joleon Lescott joined Manchester City from Everton for a fee believed to be in the region of £25million, eyebrows were raised and the England centre half came in for much criticism during the early stages of his career at Eastlands.

However this season Lescott has forged a new reputation as the rock at the heart of Roberto Mancini’s defence, and he is optimistic about what lies ahead for Manchester City: “We finished in a Champions League place last season, but our main goal now is to win the league. And we are in the driving seat at the minute.”

Speaking to The Mirror Lescott went onto talk of how consistency will be the key to any success this season: “There is a long way to go yet but we are confident that, if we can maintain the consistency we’ve shown so far, we can get there.”
